While blog surfing this morning (which I haven't done in ages) I came across this post and just HAD to share it with those who are left following my blog. Hope it brings a laugh to your day as it did mine! Imagine if all the patterns as Fabricland did this? Brings visions of a Hogwarts type of fabric store to mind....!<br />
Of course if you watch it long enough it starts to drive you crazy! So on to the next blog to see what other random things people are posting!<br />

Easy peasy crocheted ripple stitch afghan in purples and white. My Mom loves to make afghans using this pattern so I thought I would give it a try too. The colour combinations are endless and it goes pretty quick.<br />
I seem to have turned into a bit of a crochet addict right now!<br />
My next project consists of these fun flowers....we'll have to see how this one goes...but I'm up for the challenge! <br />

This crochet pattern does not live up to its name.....it takes much longer than a minute to do a mile!!!<br />
Almost done another afghan to send along to 'Word and Deed'. I'm enjoying the relaxation of sitting and crocheting while watching tv or visiting with my Mom and Dad. My Mom sits and crochets as well....now if only we could get my Dad started?!! joycehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12374259760616520525noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4399565447022392985.post-3850550077272861042013-03-19T09:51:00.000-04:002013-03-19T09:51:24.945-04:00Amazing Grace<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

So here is an update on what I have been up to the past few weeks. After mastering how to make checkered slippers it was time to move on to a different project....the slipper bag was overflowing!! I attended our ladies craft group at church one Monday afternoon to get some ideas and some wool in hopes of making something useful for others. Our craft group makes afghans, hats, mitts, etc. to donate to a group who in turn sends them to an orphanage in the Ukraine. Hopefully these bright colours will bring a smile to a child's face as she snuggles under its warmth.<br />
<br />
On Saturday evening I attended a Stampin up workshop and make the following cards. Love the this new stamp set with the vintage bike and telephone booth! Because I couldn't decide which to make I made both, using the extra piece of cardstock that was supposed to be for the inside of my card to make another front. Smart thinking, huh!!?!<br />

<div style="text-align: left;">
The butterfly card can't help but put you in the mood for spring, which is just around the corner....or not!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I was so, soooo very excited to make the peacock card, as it just so happens I have the perfect friend to send that to!! It's so much prettier in real life!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
We also made a Valentine's Day card, but you'll have to wait until the 14th to see that one.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I'm feeling more motivated to get into my stamps and ink again, but first I really want to finish the afghan. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your day!! It is snowing here again...cause we need more! Good day to snuggle up with a good book, or a crochet hook!!</div>

Happy 2013! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yes, it's really me ! Don't keel over from shock !</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
While chatting with a friend today and admiring her cards on her blog, I mentioned that I really should post something on my blog. She said she was going to check to see if I did, so....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
here goes ...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
my last 7 months worth of cardmaking!</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmR_WXs2orRESfP5zTt6Ta5E2FZ2eI9JDF1lmlzIrOr9o4tyGCHcCgfuy-7tme-krvBeZ0pQhEImWOAyWFfrmIjTc9LGP1NoQlZsQ_sk0HvwHvudXhsdPexOCvUICx7w9lYug4CwM7tTaO/s1600/IMG_0251%255B2%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmR_WXs2orRESfP5zTt6Ta5E2FZ2eI9JDF1lmlzIrOr9o4tyGCHcCgfuy-7tme-krvBeZ0pQhEImWOAyWFfrmIjTc9LGP1NoQlZsQ_sk0HvwHvudXhsdPexOCvUICx7w9lYug4CwM7tTaO/s320/IMG_0251%255B2%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Yup....that's it!!</div>
</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
A simple Christmas card with our recent family photo.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Somewhere along the way my cardmaking mojo left. And since the reason I started my blog was to post cards, I just stopped posting on my blog too. Sorry.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
So, I've decided that my word for 2013 is 'discipline'....</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
....something I need to work on.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
I've also decided that some days I really need a motivational speaker! You know, the kind that says...'hey you, get off Pinterest and start making some of that stuff you've been pinning!'</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
I have started something new though....knitting....slippers. For years my mom has been keeping us all in knitted slippers and doing a wonderful job at it!! But someday someone will need to carry on that tradition...I appointed myself.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">So no promises that tomorrow there will be another post, and for those who haven't completely given up on me....thanks for checking back !!</span><br />

So proud to celebrate the graduation of our oldest daughter Brittany, from Redeemer University! She has gone from this shy little girl off to her first day of Joy School, to a beautiful, confident young lady! Love you so much, Britt!joycehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12374259760616520525noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4399565447022392985.post-83741819732238622902012-03-27T12:16:00.003-04:002012-03-27T12:57:54.848-04:00Carnation Creations<div align="left">Well the weather has returned to seasonal temperatures, but the sun is nice and warm...maybe you can find a little nook to curl up in with a good book. I am reading 'Catching Fire', the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy. I really want to see what all the hype is about, so I borrowed the books from my niece. Ummm, I don't really have an opinion yet. I do appreciate the fact that there is no swearing in the books.</div>
<div align="left">Now onto my card. This is the first card I have made using spellbinders Carnation creations dies. The leaves are a sizzlit die. I inked the flowers up a bit, but I think they are supposed to have a more crushed look...more folded upwards. But then how will it fit in an envelope? Oh well, not bad for a first try....maybe a bit too much purple though!?</div>
<div align="left">I picked up some fun 'new-to-me' goodies at the SGD garage sale on Saturday, so off to my craft room I go!</div>

<div align="left">I've been making a box of cards for a friend and included these two owl cards along with some of the cards from my last few posts. I know she loves fun cards so I hope she will like these!</div>
<div align="left">I like the 'tree bark' look this embossing folder adds to this first card. It has lots of possibilites on other nature cards and masculine cards as well.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3PSwE-7EZP_zK7rNM-X6s1KJCwve7fwhlIOx7R7uII9Aq350l-bMk0i-4GCVL1Di9iHWP6Hq4kcYzokjjlZpZBdmjCYdQZJSlS3PQQqpluz6dD2mlsGPHU99ukNudsDSS27cUKFUZ_yvQ/s1600/IMG_6769%255B1%255D.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5721218324826558850" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3PSwE-7EZP_zK7rNM-X6s1KJCwve7fwhlIOx7R7uII9Aq350l-bMk0i-4GCVL1Di9iHWP6Hq4kcYzokjjlZpZBdmjCYdQZJSlS3PQQqpluz6dD2mlsGPHU99ukNudsDSS27cUKFUZ_yvQ/s320/IMG_6769%255B1%255D.jpg" /></a> She also loves to tease her friends who are older than her by rubbing it in that she will always be younger...so this card is going to make her laugh for sure!! A circle is punched on the front of the card to reveal the owls hidden inside, as show in the second photo.

Came across this layout in a stampin up catalogue...well it's kinda sorta the same....mine is angled a bit more. A fun card for a fun friend who always makes me smile!

This is from the Stampin Up set Upsy Daisy. The flowers are coloured with markers - rose red and old olive, and then spritzed with water before stamping onto white paper. I love the look of the water spritzing technique, just never tried it yet. Add some co-ordinating paper, ribbon and a couple of gems and the card is complete.</div>
<div align="left">Looks like it's going to be a beautiful spring, almost summer like, day! Enjoy!

Since I have known her my whole life there was no lack of pictures as I went through all my photo albums....it was great fun! This is the cover. I'm pleased to say she thrilled with it! I can think of no better way to celebrate someone so special who as been such a blessing in my life!..Lots of cherished memories! Love you always, Gracie!

<div align="left">A while ago I bought one of these great Dollar store finds that we all come across<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUfvNhiick2_sV_sk1u6XqVx6-taQsrEe3Pm4yG5UplIN4yEqItIkHFoxyZz91Wk2AUn2uM3_q1tDu_BDkYkJB7avncoEIQ0yLlRS2nnq30_GKRUSjlH-M1L8ZRJcFskRW5x_cHW_14BiB/s1600/IMG_6757%255B1%255D.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710457890927352226" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUfvNhiick2_sV_sk1u6XqVx6-taQsrEe3Pm4yG5UplIN4yEqItIkHFoxyZz91Wk2AUn2uM3_q1tDu_BDkYkJB7avncoEIQ0yLlRS2nnq30_GKRUSjlH-M1L8ZRJcFskRW5x_cHW_14BiB/s200/IMG_6757%255B1%255D.jpg" /></a> thinking this would be great for cardmaking....it's colourful and already completely die cut...what could be easier. And then I get it home and think..now what? Well, I found this in my stash the other day and decided to just start cutting it apart. I had a basic idea in mind and this turned out pretty much the way I had hoped. I sort of just kept adding things to keep the colour flow and balance. Now what to do with the rest of the sheet?!</div>
<div align="left">Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog. I see we have a fresh layer of snow again this morning...it must be the weekend. Lately it seems to only snow on the weekend.</div>
<div align="left">Well I'm off to work....enjoy your day!

I take no credit for this card as it was totally cased from the SU Idea book and Catalogue pg. 168! That's what it's for right?....there are so many cards in this catalogue that caught my eye, either because of the colours, stampset used or layout. Lots of ideas bouncing around in my head! But first I need to work on a special card for my cousin who is celebrating her 50th birthday this week!
Make it a great day!

Oh to be somewhere warm, sitting on the beach, soaking up the sun!</div>
<div align="left">This beach babe is a stamp from Kraftin Kimmie, coloured with tombow markers; paper, ribbon, and flowers from my stash. It is already in the mail to my daughter, who is off to Florida for her upcoming reading break, with wishes for a wonderfully, relaxing time with her friends! Am I jealous...well, just a little!</div>
<div align="left">Thanks for stopping by. Stay warm!

They are predicting snow for tomorrow, but only a couple of cm. Winter....you are such a tease this year!</div>
<div align="left">Another card from the Nature Walk set. I stamped the images on a separate piece of white cardstock, then edged around it with a marker and layered on my white card. The flowers were coloured with tombow markers, I added an extra one popped up on top. My butterfly was coloured with watercolour pencil crayons.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsJAPoFLZJ3efZ6MbcJZmDwmnLjACjddc336LB5K7SYixs3rbIoYJSpQC9WEul34J9qtAvyBujzHryHjf1GR8-opXhy_MMR85U837DHiQTukdt81Wd3Wgnw7EVCXcstjbretioM1UJ8bjB/s1600/IMG_6737%255B1%255D.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5707117540864993090" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsJAPoFLZJ3efZ6MbcJZmDwmnLjACjddc336LB5K7SYixs3rbIoYJSpQC9WEul34J9qtAvyBujzHryHjf1GR8-opXhy_MMR85U837DHiQTukdt81Wd3Wgnw7EVCXcstjbretioM1UJ8bjB/s320/IMG_6737%255B1%255D.jpg" /></a> Did the same card again with monarch butterfly colours and added some stickles to it....hard to see in the picture. I think this one is my favorite! I will add a sentiment later as needed.

And so far I've only used three of the seven stamps. The possibilities are endless!

Now that I have played with all the different stamps in this set over the last couple of days I have to say.....I LOVE THIS SET!! For this card I stamped the flower image in the backgound, then cutout and raised the bird for some dimension. The whole thing is layered on more mustard cardstock, then on bravo burgunday which I embossed with the framed tulip folder from SU. </div>
<div align="left">That is just the beginning of the endless fun I had creating cards with this set. See you tomorrow for another 'walk with nature'.</div>

It was just what I needed to give my mojo a boost! Yesterday I sat at my card table and made a bunch of cards which I will share with you over the next couple of days. This owl card I noticed in the feature gallery on splitcoast and I just had to make it..sooo cute! I know a few university students who would love to get a card from their mom once in a while. The heart and tag are nestabilites dies, and the owl punch from SU. Very fun and easy card to make! </div>
<div align="left">So now I'm off to fill up mother-hubbards-cupboards, and then hopefully get back to my card table.</div>
<div align="left">Have a wonderful day!

It was very relaxing just sitting stitching while watching TV, and kept my hands out of the cookie jar! Now to get the batting and some backing material and let the real quilting begin! Maybe I'll finish the baby quilt first...little less overwhelming.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_kypp8qjvNcEDVGkCUL73NWLx_HpABgAiBQ9qyVXCjNZgaq2giJKeJg6EYWdEkRR3Ms30iNQSArIC0QngayJm_9ZLlZS94fvfQX_uW_kfpJtAK01yBCXy_BUayol7vU4Rh4qp_ehZb-_o/s1600/IMG_6727%255B1%255D.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5705264453666230162" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_kypp8qjvNcEDVGkCUL73NWLx_HpABgAiBQ9qyVXCjNZgaq2giJKeJg6EYWdEkRR3Ms30iNQSArIC0QngayJm_9ZLlZS94fvfQX_uW_kfpJtAK01yBCXy_BUayol7vU4Rh4qp_ehZb-_o/s320/IMG_6727%255B1%255D.jpg" /></a>

(You can check out her blog - 'BK' - under places I visit).</div>
<div align="left">While rummaging through rubbermaid buckets looking for my quilting tools and fabric to cut up, I came across some unfinished projects I had totally forgotten about. I blame it on the fact that I developed a sudden interest in scrapbooking....and then card making....and all my quilting projects were put in the 'i'll finish it later' pile. </div>
<div align="left">The log cabin baby quilt top is machine sewn, and I have the backing, batting, and binding to finish it....<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqxaBGLWseE27XxSSFlwSe37NRJ4hgYLC6gdAj2lxU9h87UjNjyDjdEI0fBMjOojJVepkf_2oqq7yPhMdj50cvxVA43Xl_VwFiZxWZwEC0xiU8OFyYGK9K8ShlpTnJ6Zk-MVYAayTW_ULT/s1600/IMG_6700%255B1%255D.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5695618090123163938" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqxaBGLWseE27XxSSFlwSe37NRJ4hgYLC6gdAj2lxU9h87UjNjyDjdEI0fBMjOojJVepkf_2oqq7yPhMdj50cvxVA43Xl_VwFiZxWZwEC0xiU8OFyYGK9K8ShlpTnJ6Zk-MVYAayTW_ULT/s320/IMG_6700%255B1%255D.jpg" /></a>
This unfinished project I took a class for in Oct. '99....yup, that's more than 10 years ago...!! Shame on me!! It's called 'Grandma's Country Album', and is completely hand stitched and appliqued. As you can see I only have one more row to attach....it's all those darn small squares that need sewing together. At least they are cut and marked so I know exactly where they need to go! You will be proud of me when I tell you I actually worked on it last night....hand sewing those little squares together. I may just get this top finished yet, it is the task of quilting the thing that is scaring me!

....after all, I do have two weddings this year....a quilt would be a nice gift don'tcha think?!!

My resolution is to make more cards, be more productive with my time...but it doesn't start until next week because I am enjoying my time at home this week with my girls before they go back to university this weekend. We were hoping to get to London today to do some shopping and see 'Sherlock Holmes', but so far the weather is not cooperating.</div>
