Another Walk with Nature

Good morning...looks like another beautiful day! They are predicting snow for tomorrow, but only a couple of cm. Winter....you are such a tease this year!

Another card from the Nature Walk set. I stamped the images on a separate piece of white cardstock, then edged around it with a marker and layered on my white card. The flowers were coloured with tombow markers, I added an extra one popped up on top. My butterfly was coloured with watercolour pencil crayons. Did the same card again with monarch butterfly colours and added some stickles to it....hard to see in the picture. I think this one is my favorite! I will add a sentiment later as needed.

Have I said how much I love this stamp set!! And so far I've only used three of the seven stamps. The possibilities are endless! Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy this beautiful day!

Nature Walk

Finally got around to inking up my Nature Walk stamp set from SU. Now that I have played with all the different stamps in this set over the last couple of days I have to say.....I LOVE THIS SET!! For this card I stamped the flower image in the backgound, then cutout and raised the bird for some dimension. The whole thing is layered on more mustard cardstock, then on bravo burgunday which I embossed with the framed tulip folder from SU.

That is just the beginning of the endless fun I had creating cards with this set. See you tomorrow for another 'walk with nature'.

On Friday evening I went to a stamping event with some friends and made some lovely cards and had a great time out! It was just what I needed to give my mojo a boost! Yesterday I sat at my card table and made a bunch of cards which I will share with you over the next couple of days. This owl card I noticed in the feature gallery on splitcoast and I just had to make it..sooo cute! I know a few university students who would love to get a card from their mom once in a while. The heart and tag are nestabilites dies, and the owl punch from SU. Very fun and easy card to make!

So now I'm off to fill up mother-hubbards-cupboards, and then hopefully get back to my card table.

Grandmother's Album Quilt top

I finished my Grandmother's Album quilt top this week....pieced all the squares together to finish the final row and sewed it on, then added the border....all done by hand, I might add. It was very relaxing just sitting stitching while watching TV, and kept my hands out of the cookie jar! Now to get the batting and some backing material and let the real quilting begin! Maybe I'll finish the baby quilt first...little less overwhelming.

What was in the bucket??!!

For those of you who follow my daughter Brittany's blog, you would have probably read her recent post on the hours we spent...well, I spent.....cutting blocks to finish the quilt she is working on. (You can check out her blog - 'BK' - under places I visit).

While rummaging through rubbermaid buckets looking for my quilting tools and fabric to cut up, I came across some unfinished projects I had totally forgotten about. I blame it on the fact that I developed a sudden interest in scrapbooking....and then card making....and all my quilting projects were put in the 'i'll finish it later' pile.

The log cabin baby quilt top is machine sewn, and I have the backing, batting, and binding to finish it.... This unfinished project I took a class for in Oct. '99....yup, that's more than 10 years ago...!! Shame on me!! It's called 'Grandma's Country Album', and is completely hand stitched and appliqued. As you can see I only have one more row to attach....it's all those darn small squares that need sewing together. At least they are cut and marked so I know exactly where they need to go! You will be proud of me when I tell you I actually worked on it last night....hand sewing those little squares together. I may just get this top finished yet, it is the task of quilting the thing that is scaring me! If it isn't enough that I have these projects to finish, I started looking through my stash of Quilting books and magazines.... ....after all, I do have two weddings this year....a quilt would be a nice gift don'tcha think?!!

...well this is Mr. Potato Heart!!!

Yesterday I was making scalloped potates for supper and pulled this one out of the bag!! Made me laugh out loud...and so the potato jokes commenced! The scalloped potatoes were delicious...made with lots of heart! Happy New Year to everyone! My resolution is to make more cards, be more productive with my time...but it doesn't start until next week because I am enjoying my time at home this week with my girls before they go back to university this weekend. We were hoping to get to London today to do some shopping and see 'Sherlock Holmes', but so far the weather is not cooperating.

Oh well, maybe tomorrow!

Cutest snowman ever!

Card #4 is this adorable snowman made with circle punches and then layered with pop-ups! The hat is made with 2 ovals, one cut in half, and the arms made from the snowflake punch and then cut apart. The card base is a transparency sheet, pretty neat!...but lots of fingerprints that needed to be wiped off afterwards. The inside of the card has the same large circle for writing your sentiments. Really cute card and so easy!

This is the 3rd of the four cards we made. So cute! I love the colours, layering, and all the different elements, especially that little jingle bell that really jingles!!

Looking forward to spending some quiet time at my craft table this afternoon, working on the rest of my Christmas cards. In need of some well deserved down time, after a crazy busy week at the Dutch store...and it's only going to get busier the next two weeks!

First of all I apologize for the picture...it has been impossible finding a place to get a good photo during these dark and dreary days! These are two of the four cards we made at a stamping night at our Stampin Up demonstrators home last week. The colour theme for these two cards was cherry cobbler and sahara sand. The first card I love, with the embossed snowflake on the bottom half, and that beautiful stamp 'Let Earth Receive Her King'! The second card is more simple and subtle, but very pretty. For this one we used the top note die stamped with a couple of snowflakes in the corners and our sentiment. The other two cards I will try and post tomorrow, if I can get a decent picture. It was great to stamp together and get some new ideas for Christmas cards. Although I could use a little snow to get me in the decorating mood!

This card is pretty red...rose red to be exact. Totally cased from a Monday morning get together. Not sure what the stamp set is, but it is Stampin Up. Added some ribbon and bling and stickles. Also made it in So Saffron, liked it much better...a little softer looking.

These cute little Penny Black mice are sharing a heartfelt hug....is there anything nicer! A hug from a friend just makes us feel good....loved! The image was coloured with tombow markers, the feet and flower were raised, then some stickles on the flower just for fun.

It was fun spending time at my craft table yesterday afternoon....I realized how much I have missed it. Finished up some unfinished projects and started some new ones. No Christmas cards in the making yet though.

Sometime life is hard....sometimes I make it hard. Each season of life sends us on a journey of adjustment to the changes it brings. Sometimes that is hard....sometimes that is lonely. A few more photos to share from our fun-filled, jam-packed mini-vacation in the Muskokas. On our morning visit to the lake, it struck me funny that all the seagulls were sitting on the floating dock....not flying around squawking like they usually do. I think they were having their morning 'Shit Happens Seagull Society' meeting! Anyone up for cliff jumping? No thanks....that is definitely NOT on my Bucket list! Kristen, 'Miss No Fear', took a flying leap into the air without a second thought! Brittany took a few minutes to work up the nerve to jump, and then off she went! I have her jump on video so I didn't post it. I was so proud of her knowing how scared she was.

We visited all the lovely shops in Huntsville, so fun! I got a parking ticket for not putting enough money in the meter. Actually I did not put any money in the meter because I did not see it. Maybe if they put it on the curb where we parked instead of on the sidewalk infront of the store.....

The latest and last Harry Potter movie was playing so we just had to go see that...followed by an evening walk along the boardwalk.

After leaving Brittany and MBC we drove to visit Don and Judy at their cottage in Severin Falls. So, so very beautiful and peaceful there. An evening boat ride was a real treat...except for the madman driving....just about blew poor Carly right off! So many more memories of that time away I hold deep in my heart...songs and jokes shared along the way, the beauty of God's world all around me, the joy of family and friends, God's word in Rap,...oh, and so much more.

Driving through Shelburne we spotted this Batmobile parked downtown! Kristen just about jumped right out of the moving van, so we HAD to turn around and go back and see it! Can you tell she is excited!?! The guy getting inside built it from an old burnt out car, I don't remember how long he said it took him. The licence plate said 'batman89' so we figured it must be from one of the first movies. Pretty sweet ride, hey!?!!!

Do you recognize the Canadian born actor in the middle? That's Bruce Greenwood. I could not think of his name when I saw him, and could only remember him from "Double Jeopardy", but I know he has been in alot of other movies as well.

I spent a couple of hours on Tuesday afternoon of our holidays in the little (and I mean little) town of Rosseau, while Kristen was visiting some friends at Muskoka Woods. There is a marina there with a small park, so I found myself a nice spot under a shady tree to read. There seemed to be something going on but no one was sure just what. Until a couple of hours later, the buzz was that there was a movie being shot there. Where was Brad Pitt, I wondered?! Not that I expected to see any really famous actors.....although I have heard there are alot of famous actors with cottages on Lake Rosseau....like Russell Crowe!..oohhh, wouldn't that be a treat!! I watched them film a short scene and then had to leave to pickup Kristen.

So now I can check that off my Bucket List...you know...watch a movie being shot. Not that it was on there to start off with, but I can add it and then check it off.

Picked it up the other day at the town library. Had a no-guilt-read-all-day kind of day! Couldn't put it down. But don't go looking for it anytime soon. I have it out for three weeks, and plan to read it again....

This card was totally cased from my friend Anja's blog, but it was a great card to share with the girls....they loved it. The lattice punch is a martha stewart punch which Anja picked up for me at the SGD garage sale....why someone would sell this punch is beyond me! The coral background was embossed with the elegant bouquet folder from SU.

We also embossed the envelope with the same folder. Why have I never thought to do this before? What a great look!

A Cute Chick and A Blossom

Good morning ladies! As promised two cards we made at our girls getaway.

This cute chick is made with all different Stampinup punches. Anita came with everything already punched for us and we just needed to sponge on the colour and put her together. So cute!

This lovely card is made with the Build a Blossom stamp set and punch from Stampin Up. It also uses the framed tulips embossing folder. This time we had to do the work ourselves! Thanks Anita for sharing two great cards with us!

Sweet Birthday

This scalloped card is a birthday card for a special friend who is celebrating her birthday today! I used the Sweet Summer from SU sale-a-bration, sage shadow, and rich razzleberry. A ribbon and some gemstones finish it off, as I know how much she loves bling! It is hard to see in the picture, but the purple flowers are raised on pop-dots.

May is a busy birthday month for me, so I'd better get crackin' on the cards....and I still have Mother's Day cards to make too!

Anyway, enjoy your day....looks like we may finally get the rain they've been promising.

Black Magic Daisies

The other day while checking out ideas on Splitcoast I came across this technique called Black Magic, watched the tutorial and decided to give it a try. You stamp a solid image in white ink on black cardstock and then dry it with your heat gun. I used this image from the SU Set Upsy Daisy. You then colour the image with pencil crayons, I used my watercolour pencils, and add highlites with a white gel pen. The effect is pretty neat! Making it into a card was a bit more difficult since I hardly ever stamp on a dark background. Anyways, I layered it on so saffron and black, added a dutch sentiment and some bling. I am happy with the end result.....what do you think?

Good morning....long time no post!

Today I have splash of dutch cards to share with you. They are for work, as people have been coming in asking if we have greeting cards. I have not had any for sale for a while....so it's about time! So this is what I have been working on since my last post....which was ages ago, I know. My Stampin up order came in too, and I am excited to play with my new toys! I have used a couple of my new sizzix folders in two of the cards above....love those folders! Well off to work I go....

Butterfly Bliss

Too busy to post yesterday. This is the other card we made at the Stampin Up party. It uses a stamp from the Bliss set in the sale-a-bration catalogue and those lovely butterfly embosslits. The card is then spritzed with the smooched spritz - cool stuff!! So pretty and so simple. I did not put a sentiment on this one yet.

Tangerine Spring!

On Friday evening I went to a Stampin Up party where I made these lovely cards. It was a small group so we were lucky enough to make two of each of the cards she was demonstrating. This one just puts you in the mood for spring! I switched up the placement of the ribbon and used different sayings, added a butterfly and some pearls. Love that new border folder!! Tomorrow I will post the other card we made.

The Fat Cat is Back!

Good morning everyone and Happy March 1st! Looks like it is coming in like a lamb, does that mean it will go out like a lion? Another Penny Black fat cat image watercoloured with tombow markers. The background is the Happy Birthday CB folder using white core paper and then sanded with an emery board.

Well reading week is over and Kristen has returned to university, and Brittany has returned safely back from her missions trip....and all is right with the world!

Vellum Overlay

This pretty card is cased from Gretchen Barron's blog. She used some of the SU embossing folders for her cards, but since I did not have any of those I used what I did have....a border folder from the Just My Type set from Cuttlebug. Using card stock weight vellum, I had to run it through a few times moving it over a little bit each time. I attached it to the card along the edge covered by the ribbon. You can make 4 of these cards using only 1 piece of vellum, 1 piece of designer paper, and 2 pieces of cardstock....and a little bit of ribbon. A quick, easy and very pretty card for any occasion. Happy Family Day!! Hope you enjoy spending the day with those you love....doing whatever it is your family likes to do! My husband is off to help my brothers shovel their driveways this morning after last nights snow...we must have gotten at least another 10 inches! And I hear my daughter Kristen, home on reading break, just getting out of bed. Brittany is also on reading break, but is spending the week on a missions trip in El Paso and Juarez. Another birthday card to share....I like the layout, but not sure about mounting it on the white base, may need to change that. The piece of white twill I used across the top of the card to stamp Happy on is actually a handle from a La Senza bag. I cut all the fabric handles off store bags figuring they would be great for ribbon on cards....putting the reduce, reuse, recycle into practice. Enjoy your day! Maybe I will get to spend some time in my craft room today, but Kristen says we have to play games together all day.....maybe we can make a card together too....probably not!

Fat Cat Birthday Wishes

Bright and Happy birthday wishes if it is your birthday today, and even if it is not, have a bright and happy day anyway! This little cutie is a Penny Black stamp, watercoloured with tombows. I used the rich razzleberry paper from SU and some co-ordinating paper I found in my stash. Don't remember where I got the ribbon, it is double-sided and matches pretty well. The quote on my calendar this morning says "you can't have everything, where would you put it".... this person has obviously not met an addicted stamper-card maker-scrapbooker!!

Yup....two posts from me this morning! Just couldn't wait to share this cute little House Mouse with you! I stamped this little cutie yesterday morning at a friends house while stampin with "the ladies"...what a fun morning.I had this idea for a Valentines card, and that cute mouse seemed to be just what it needed to pull it together! The paper is a Kraft colour, embossed with CB's Heart Blocks folder. Now I just need to get it in the mail so it makes it on time for Valentine's day....I fear it will be late.

Ol' Mr. Groundhog may have predicted an early spring, but in the meantime we are gonna get more winter...snow and cold!The stamp for this card I picked up at Hobby Lobby thinking it looked a bit like one from the Stampin Up set Artfully Asian....or is it Embrace Life.....(if you use your imagination). So I checked out Splitcoast and found this super easy card. Well it's super easy if you don't mind just winging it, but being the person I am, I had to use my stamp-a-ma-jig to make sure every stem of flowers was in the right spot, and of course the cutting and layer had to be perfect too! I wish I was that much of a perfectionist in other areas of my life. Ah well, always something to work on and strive for.

This cute little chickadee is an Our Daily Bread stamp, and I have to admit this card is cased from their blog. I watercoloured him with tombows, cut him out and layered him on an embossed circle. I choose the music notes for the background paper because of the beauty of the birds songs, which we miss during these cold winter months. Ah well, spring is just around the corner as they say.

Wow, it's cold outside! So thankful to be warm inside with the fireplace on, and a hot cup of coffee.

I noticed my last two posts were on the first day of the month, so since it is the first of February, (already!) I am due for a new one. Since December was a busy month and I was feeling very unmotivated to make cards, I decided to give myself permission to take January off from posting and search through my craft room to see where my mojo was hiding. What I found was that I was looking for inspiration from all my stuff, and couldn't find it there. It had to come from within myself...and there seemed to be an empty spot there. As I sat down at my craft table among my paper and stamps and began flipping through a card magazine I knew what my problem was....my expectations of myself were too high. I needed to be reminded of why I loved to make cards in the first place. It's not a competition and every card does not need to be a work of art. Now that I have ridded myself of that pressure, I seem to be enjoying it so much more.

So....a card. I love these skaters! And since I have a bunch left over from Christmas I switched up the colours and made a birthday card perfect for this time of year. Thanks for stopping by and bearing with me through my 'drought'. Who knows....tomorrow I may even have another post.

.....this is the Celine Dion song we have been singing around the house lately. For some reason this is the one that stuck in our heads after listening to her Christmas CD. I'm not going to go into a year in review....there have been changes, joys, and struggles galore....and yes, so many things to be thankful for.

This morning I am especially thankful not to have to rush off to the rat race at work today, and to enjoy a quiet morning at home. Later today we are off to enjoy some more family celebrations!

Naughty....but Nice!!

Wow!....I made a card....two even....but both the same! This is SU Holiday Lineup set of elves, checking up to see if you are being naughtly or nice before they start on your christmas list! I think I found this ribbon at Michael's after Christmas sale last year, of course knowing it would come in handy some day for something. The border punches are from Fiskars and Martha Stewart.

Last night my Kristen surprised me by coming home early from university....I was expecting her today! What a wonderful surprise! She is home for 6 days to get some studying done in the quiet of her own home before exams,...and of course to spend some quality time with her mom.

They are predicting snow for today.....let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!

Today two special ladies in my life celebrate their birthdays! My Mom and my oldest daughter! Yup, it's Happy Halloween and Happy Birthday... to the two witches in the family! This is the card I made for my Mom while stamping with a friend the other night. She has her very own store right in her basement...punches and dies and ribbon, oh my!! I used flower soft on the Queen anne's lace, giving it that 'wow' it needed. Thank you my friend for a fun night of sharing, laughter, and eating nuts off the floor! And for helping me create this beautiful card for my beautiful mother.

God's Promise

For a brief minute or two it was a double rainbow, and then it all disappeared behind the clouds. A couple of cards to post today. The first is one I made at a recent Stampin Up party I went to. This owl punch is sooooo cute I just had to order it.....can't wait until it comes in!!! Did not put a sentiment on, because I'm just not sure whooooo to send it too yet!

I saw a card using this layout on a blog and decided to give it a try....not hard at all really. I used my large circle and scalloped circle from spellbinders. It was fun to do something other than an ordinary square or rectangle card....I will definitely do this style again.

I'd like to say I'll be back in my craft room again tonight.....I know there are more cards I should be making....but you know what tonight is.....biggest loser nite!!! I always feel so quilty, like I shouldn't be snacking while watching it....what would Bob and Jillian think?!!

Look who's three!

Just a quick post this morning. I made this card for my nephew's 3rd birthday. The idea came from a Paper Crafts magazine from 2005.....yes I've had the page tagged that long, and just finally got around to making it. The background I typed on the computer and printed off....I personalized it by adding his name and age....tied 3 balloons together with a ribbon and stuck them on top! I hope he doesn't rip the balloons off and try to blow them up....they are water balloons and very, very hard to blow up....believe me I tried! I like the finished card....but next time I think I`ll try bigger balloons!

My Book Worm

Good morning....and a rainy one at that!

I am taking a chance posting this card, as I sent it last week to Brittany and am not sure if she has received it yet.....snail mail definitely comes by its name honestly!

This is another Bella stamp, perfect for my english major who seems to have her nose in at least 5 or 6 books at once. I hope she likes it, and the surprise inside.

I didn't make it back into my craft room last Tuesday evening.... Biggest Loser won out!...oh and lookie....it's on again tonite!

Today I spent some time in my craft room and finished up some more coloured images that needed to be made into cards. I know, finally, hey!

This is Bubblebella, enjoying a relaxing bath....only thing missing is the glass of wine!

I glittered up the bubbles and raised them, the sentiment is from a Penny Black set.

The plan for this evening is to do more of the same....although I just realized 'The Biggest Loser' is starting tonight...oh dear, what to do?!

This post has 3 cards all with dutch sentiments. These are 3 of the 6 I have ready to take to the store tomorrow for those customers who love 'all things Dutch'! It's nice to be able to offer dutch greeting cards for those who like to send cards to family or friends in Holland, or just close by. My dutch sentiment stamps were a good investment for me...I seem to use them alot. And my boss thinks it's great we now offer greeting cards in addition to the multitude of other goodies in the store. Another wedding card. I had this really great dp of 1 Corinthians 13 in my stash, perfect for a wedding card. I used the silhouette image again, added a scalloped edge, some ribbon and rhinestones. Kinda of pretty I thought.

This morning I am going stamping at a friends house. Probably won't get much stamping done, but the fellowship and laughter with friends is good therapy. Yesterday I received a text from Kristen that she is in health care at camp with strep throat...it's all I can do to keep from driving up there, because I'm her mom and she needs ME to take care of her....or maybe it's just my need as her mom to take care of her. But she assures me she is in good hands...and God's hands.

Clean and Simple

This card I made a while ago, just never posted it. I think it falls into the CAS (clean and simple) category. I used the SU In Full Bloom set for this card as well but coloured it with watercolour pencil crayons for a change. The sentiment is a stamp I picked up at Hobby Lobby.

All my dutch sentiment cards at the store are gone, so I really need to get crackin' on some more of those....and maybe some Christmas cards too!

Upsy Daisy

If this card looks familiar it's because I copied the layout from a card we made at a SU class a few years ago. That was when I kept all my cards just incase I wanted to make them again. Then I got smart and realized I could take pictures of my card.

The flowers are from SU Upsy Daisy stamp set, pumpkin pie and barely banana cardstock, ribbon and a butterfly charm. I brought this card to work yesterday, along with a bunch of others, and this one is already sold. It's pretty exciting when some else likes what I make!

In Full Bloom

You know how sometimes you sit down to make a card and it takes hours to make just one? And then there are the days when everything just seems to flow and fall into place a whole lot quicker....yesterday was like that. This is one of the cards I made using an old SU set In Full Bloom. The scallop along the edge is actually on the back of the card. I punched it first and then folded my cardstock...a neat idea I saw on another blog.

I had a wonderfully productive day. More to post in the next couple of days!

My Neighbours Flowers

First I must thank my neighbour for her wildly overgrown flowers on the side of her house, it helped me finish this card. I had already coloured the flowers yellow and they were, well, boring. As I sat staring out the window, the flowers next door waved at me "look, aren't we pretty...add some orange...then your flowers will be pretty too!" So add orange I did....much better. Stamped a second image of the flowers, coloured just the bottom few, cut them out and raised them. I really love the 3-D look. The ribbon idea is copied, I wanted to try that too. Was going to add a sentiment but went with the brown pearls instead.

Another wedding card! Very simple and pretty. The background was stamped lightly with teal ink from SU using the diecut from spellbinders labels 8. The flowers I purchased at the SGD garage sale, a whole bag full! They have a bit of sheen to them, impossible to see in the picture. Added some ribbon and rhinestones to finish it off.

My Birthday Girl!!

Today my baby turns 18 years old!.....eighteen! My sweet little girl has grown into a lovely young lady. The words on this card describe her perfectly, for she is all of these things and more....respectful, ambitious, funny (for sure!) confident, adventurous, determined, energetic....loving, caring, spontaneous, and most importantly, loves God. So today I am going to visit her up at Muskoka Woods camp where she is working for the summer, and whisk her away overnight and all day tomorrow!! I am so excited to see her and have some one-on-one time catching up and just hanging out! See you in a couple of days.

A Wedding Card

This is the first wedding card I have ever made. I love the silhouette stamp which I picked up for 1/2 price at SGD...good deal!! The layout was one I have used before on another card, but it worked really well with this stamp too. The dp is from my stash and the cardstock from SU. Looking at it now, I suppose I should put some black embroidery floss through the button holes....still can. Overall, I love the way it turned out....for a first-timer that is! Not my Friend!

This card is not my friend!! I admit it turned out quite pretty in the end....but while I was making it nothing seemed to be working for me....that was yesterday. I watercoloured the image and then cut around the sand, dog and girl because I knew I wanted to mount it on this great blue textured paper and have the girl and the dog popped up, but the sand glued down. Once that was done I ran it through the cuttlebug and made it round. Then I mounted it on one colour, then another,and another....oh, maybe if I scallop the edges...nope, didn't like that either. Let's try some patterned paper for the background....or maybe not....maybe just a small piece of dp and a plain background. Lets see, I have so much paper laying around I think I've lost my image somewhere in this mess. I know....how about just walk away!! That was yesterday.

Today, I went back into my craft room and had it finished in half an hour using pieces I had cut out yesterday. Today, it looks fine.

Yesterday was not my friend either. Good thing it's over.

Today was much more productive. Let's do today again tomorrow!!

Well the first thing I did this morning was stick my head out the front door to see if the weather people were right....they were. The humidity is gone, for now, so I took a big breath of delicious fresh air and came back in to open the windows! Unfortunately I have to spend the day inside at work.

I think this stamp is so pretty. I used it at a friends house, but wish I had stamped a few more....or maybe I should just put it on my wish list. The layout idea came from Mojo Monday.

Happy Wednesday!! Yesterday I finished up a couple more cards with my already watercoloured images. I just love these Penny Black hedgie stamps! Pretty easy card..... I cased the bow and button idea from a blog I follow. I'm noticing a lot of cards with buttons on them again. Brings me back to my childhood when all we had were the scraps our mothers would let us use....old fabric, ricrac, felt, buttons, and white glue.....oh, and lets not forget cheerios! This cute little card is for my girlie who is away at camp for the summer. There is a bit of a story behind it. We were watching Ellen one day....she took two boys to the finished, but not yet open, Harry Potter theme park in Florida. You can look up this segment of the show on youtube...it is quite funny. They stopped at the Owl shop, which if you know anything about Harry Potter, you need an Owl in order to send and receive mail. Ellen started with the owl sounds.....'whooo....whooo.....whooo doesn't like owls.....whoooo'! The young boys really didn't get it or they were just ignoring her, but it sent Kristen and I into fits of laughter, and we spent the rest of the day imitating Ellen.....'whooo doesn't like nasi for supper....whooo....whooo is crazy'! (well we know the answer to that one!) Ah, Kristen I miss you and your quirky sense of humor. It was fun to make this card, and I'm sure she will think it an absolute...hoot!

Petal Prints

Good morning...looks like another beautiful day!

I've been enjoying playing with this old SU set Petal Prints. I'm finding I really like the look of raising some of the images on the card....takes a little more time to cut everything out, but looks so pretty. I inked it up with rose red, apricot, and celery. Sponged the background with the the red and apricot, and a touch of blue. Just wondering if this is a bit too happy looking to be a Sympathy card, but i needed one so that's what it is. I left the other two blank (always make at least 2 or 3 extra while everything is inked anyway) .... could serve as a birthday or anniversary card as well.

Well, what will I stamp today? Yesterday evening I watched the movie 'Flicka' (CBC Sunday movie) and then watched 'Australia',....feeling like I should stamp some horses.

Celebrate You

This birthday card is for a lovely lady who is celebrating her birthday this month. I think I sent it a bit too early as her birthday isn't until the end of the month....oh well, better too early than late, which is what I usually am.

These pretty flowers were sitting in my pile of coloured images waiting to be finished. I have so many of those word charms that I bought at $rama and hardly ever use.....what else is new...... I added some dp, ribbon, and of course yellow stickles on the flowers.

Last week I moved my table and stamping ensemble from the basement to an empty upstairs bedroom that has two wonderful bright windows. That called for some re-organization, and the overwhelming, almost embarassing fact that I have alot of 'stuff'. My hubby has named the room my 'studio', and thinks all the 'stuff' is actually pretty neat. Never mind that he doesn't know I haven't used alot of it yet. I am reminded of the words from the lovely lady who this card is for...her hubby said, 'it's ok to buy it, as long as you use it'.....aw, words of wisdom. He obviously has never been to a stamping store where everything calls out to us....'take me home'!

So, today is another one of those 42 degree humidex days, that warns us to stay indoors. OK.

I have some cleaning to do, and then gotta watch the World Cup match - Hup Holland Hup!!!!

This pretty daisy card I also made earlier this week while crafting with my girlfriends. The other lovely lady that makes cards brought a sample of this one along for us to make. It was so fun to see all the different colours everyone chose for their daisies...lots of creativity in action! I chose to do coral, but had to finish it at home since neither one of us brought ribbon that matched. So I added some lace and pearls too, and of course some stickles on the yellow.

On another note, Brittany surprised me by coming home for the weekend a day earlier than I expected! My dear husband and Kristen knew this, but wanted to surprise me. Do you think I can call in sick tomorrow and make cards with her all day??

On Monday and Tuesday I enjoyed some wonderful time away with friends at a cottage near Bayfield. We did what girls love to do best....chat, shop, eat, drink wine, laugh, and of course, make crafts! Two of us are card makers so we brought along our card making stuff. I made these two cards to share with the ladies. One of the other ladies makes jewellery so she shared with us her beads and taught us how to make bracelets and earrings. It was very fun to learn something new. But I think I'll stick to cards...those beads are pretty small!

The food was amazing...vegetarian lasagna, a delicious salad, bean salad, key lime pie, homemade bread....need I go on!! I just love these ladies and our time spent together!!

I made a card!!! Shocking, I know! And not just one....but 4!!

Ok, but I must give true credit where credit is due. Yesterday morning I joined the Monday morning ladies for stamping and fellowship. I had not been in so long, and because my mojo seemed to have dried up, wasn't sure what I was going to work on. But my friend Anja said she had a simple idea for a card, to bring along artichoke paper and cream paper. So I did, and voila! A pretty but simple card. Love the punch. So I made 4 and put different sentiments on them when I got home.

Spring Flowers

Good morning....it's Friday!!! A quick post for today, no watercolouring this time. I pulled out this old set from SU called Paint Prints because I saw a card in the store that I liked and I thought to myself ..'I can make that'. So this is sort of my version of what I saw. It's brighter in real life, as bright as you can get using So saffron and mellow moss. Some cinnamon stickles in the middle, ribbon and rhinestones.

So now it's off to get ready for work.

My daughter Brittany is home from University for the Easter weekend, so we spent some time making cards on Saturday night. I have a lot of coloured images that need to be made into cards, so I worked on that while she indulged her creative self in my 'new' garage sale stamps and paper. I have to laugh at her though, when a card doesn't turn out exactly as she hoped she just shrugs and says....'oh well, I'll give it to a boy!'

Goodmorning! This morning I woke up to the sound of birds chirping and singing outside my window. What a beautiful way to wake up. So much better than that flock of crows that sat in the trees last year about this time....with their screeching 'get up, get up'. That made me think of us as people...some of us have beautiful singing voices and then there are those of us who sound like a bunch of old crows!! But God gave us all our voices...and isn't it nice to know that He loves to listen to us sing. It's all beautiful to His ear. So find something to sing about today!! Tulips in the garden, tulips in the park....

....but the tulips I like best are the .....tulips in the wooden shoe! ( I think the rhyme goes...'are the two lips in the dark!') Love purple tulips! Last week I needed some sympathy cards and since I didn't have any in my stack, it was time to get to work. So I made 4 of this one, mailed the ones I had to and now have a couple for my box at work. Two Pockets ~ Double the Fun!

This is one of my favorite SU sets - Pocket Silhouettes, but I don't use it nearly enough. I came across this design while blog-hopping. Love the colour combo and layout, so I had to case it. Somedays, when my own creativity won't create, it's nice to know there are so many others out there to give it that boost it needs.

I'm so excited my daughter Brittany is home from University for reading break ~ hoping to spend some time card-making with her! I know she has lots of books to read and papers to write, but she'll need a break too right! And I have bought some of her favorite stamps to play with to tempt her - Penny Black!!

Also looking forward to watching the Olympics ~ especially the hockey. Go team Canada!!! I'll just have to park my craft table infront of the TV for the next 10 days!!

That's a sure-fire way to accomplish nothing!!

I can just hear my friend Anja saying...."c'mon girl, I know you've made some cards, now put them on your blog." Ok, so here is one of them. The past few weeks I have been dealing with pain from a pinched nerve, which is affecting my right shoulder and arm, and of course, I would have to be right handed!! When I first sat down to make a card, my arm was so sore, I almost cried....I couldn't even make a card! Slowly things are starting to ease up (drugs help), and I am spending more time at my craft table. Yay! Now I am off to work for a couple of hours, and then to physio and massage therapy. Birds of a feather....stamp together! This is such a cute stamp. I love how the two birds in the middle seem to be having quite a chat, while the two on the ends seem to be not paying any attention at all! Or maybe they are the "lookout's"! Wanna go for a ride??

This cool car is for my brother who is celebrating his 45th birthday this week!! It is a 1969 Chev. Camaro from Clear Dollar stamps. They have great car stamps for guy cards - always a challenge to make. My brother actually owned an 88/89? Camaro back in the day when he was way cooler than he is now!! I didn't remember that little tidbit of information until I was done making the card (I suffer from senior moments) , and it was actually dark blue! How lucky for me...I was just trying to match the colour to the paper! Hope he likes it, and it brings back some memories of his younger, cooler days!

What to say? Flowers. Blue. Gray. Olive green. Watercoloured with markers. Green velvet ribbon. My new punch. Button....now there's a story. After buying some pretty charms this week, I decided to dump out my button jar to see what might be in there. I found lots of great buttons including this silver, very worn, old one. Perfect. Did you know the cost to mail a card in Canada has gone up to 57 cents. And to the USA $1.00. Good thing us card makers don't have to go out and BUY the card too!!! We make our own, doesn't cost us a thing....right?

Woke up this morning to at least another 5 cm. of snow....what a pretty sight. I really do love the snow. So why am I making a spring card you ask?....to use my new stamps and paper I got on my wonderful shopping trip this week, of course!! Peace....what a beautiful word! There is something about saying it out loud that just makes me feel calm. This great little card was a creation from my niece. She handed out her homemade cards at Christmas to all the family, and each one was different. She is a very talented card maker!!! I told her to start a blog so we can see all her creations, but she said....'oh, they aren't that great!' I think they are, don't you?!?

My prayer for this year is that peace may live in our homes and in our hearts. That we may have peace with what God has given us and what He has not. That though we can't bring peace to the whole world, we can at least bring peace to our own small part of it, by the things we do and say. 'Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me...'

This cute little card was on top of the gift I received from my hubby this Christmas. And he made it himself!!! Yes, he actually stamped AND coloured it!! (He had a little help from my daughter finding everything he needed). I am impressed!! I was a little concerned at first when I found out he was going through my stuff, I mean, wouldn't you be?? There's kind of a lot of it! But he thought it was all really neat! Not sure if that's good or bad.

I loved making this card! I wish I could take credit for the design, but I cased it off Splitcoast. It is done with SU Pocket Silhouettes in purely pomegranate. I ran the white background not quite all the way through the CB leaving room for the sentiment.

I look forward to some time off after New Years which I hope to spend in my crafting space which has sadly been neglected since I finished my Christmas cards.... just too busy with work and everything else.

Happy 50th!

Yeah! My 50th post! Happy 50th blog day to me!!

These cards are two more using the skaters stamp I love so much. I did one in white and ruby red, and the other in real red and white. Used the snowflakes and swiss dots CB's and ribbon. Raised the skaters slightly because I find it sticks better over the ribbon. I am also sending this card to my Uncle and Aunt celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. I'm sure they did some pairs skating in Holland, way back when!

I hope you are all enjoying getting ready for Christmas, whether it be by making cards, baking, shopping, listening to the wonderful music, and quietly meditating on "Jesus, the reason for the season". In my devotional this morning I read how one mom wrapped up the baby Jesus from her nativity scene and put it under the Christmas tree with all the other gifts. She gave it to one member of the family to open, to remind the family that among all the other gifts under the tree the Gift of Jesus is the greatest gift given, and one we have to share with everyone...not just now, but all year long.

A quick post this morning. This lovely tree is from SU Scandinavian Season, stamped with versamark and gold embossed. The paper also SU last year's Ski Slope pack, some brads and ribbon, and another card done. Skating in a winter wonderland

I just love this skaters stamp from the SU set Winter Post. It sort of has that nostalgic feel about it...days gone by. When we were growing up we knew without a doubt that every winter there would be lots of snow for building forts and snowmen. My Dad would make a patch of ice in the yard for us to skate on, or we would visit the nearest frozen pond. It has been a long time since I have skated outdoors on a pond. Now the winter weather is so unpredictable,... like today. It's Dec.14 and it's.......raining. A good day to get some shopping done. Thanks for stopping by.

Pretty and Simple

Happy snowy morning to all my bloggin friends! After that wildly windy rainy night, it's nice to wake up to see little white flakes blowing around instead. Looks like it is still cold and windy, though. Brrr...! This card is cased from a blog I like to follow 'Rosemary Reflections'. I needed some simple cards to make with a friend who is making a box of cards for her mom for Christmas. Since I wanted to make this one anyway it served double purpose. We had a lovely afternoon stamping and chatting. I am also happy to report that my Christmas cards are done!! Now to write and mail them. A good job for this evening after work. Elliot the Moose

Happy 1st of December! My first Christmas card! This poor moose is so cold he had to put on his knitted leggings....isn't he cute! I named him Elliot after a TV show I used to watch with my girls when they were little. When I saw this image that was the first thing that came to mind...'Elliot moose....is on the loose'.

I watercoloured with markers, and then outlined the image with a light grey marker. I saw this done on someones blog, and thought it made the image stand out just a little bit more. DP is last years Stampin Up. Some snowflakes and gems to finish it off.

Hope this little moose will warm your heart...or your legs!

Good morning! Just a quick, simple card for today. I just had to have this double sided paper when I saw it! Love the colours and the design. I didn't want to cover it up, so I chose a simple layout, used both sides of the paper, folded the ribbon so it wouldn't look too plain, and stamped a sentiment in a scalloped circle. It works for me. I should be working on Christmas cards, but the past couple of evenings I have been watching the first season of Lost with Kristen. We have been following the show since it started and are anxiously waiting for the final season to start. I don't remember much of the first season, so it's interesting. Anyway, enjoy your day...I plan to enjoy mine.

Cute little Pixie

This cute little pixie is another stamp from CC Designs. 'Apple Emma' from my blog post yesterday is also a stamp from this company (at least this pic turned out clearer). I also coloured her with the prismacolour pencils and blended with gamsol. It was so fun to stamp and colour these images with the prismas, since I usually use my watercolour pencils or markers. First of all I apologize for the blurry picture. This card is for my daughter Brittany, who I spent a lovely morning with yesterday. "Apple Emma" is so cute and I just had to send it to her as we have a family joke about apples from since Brittany was very little and just learning to talk. Apple was pronounced 'appo' and we would encourage her to say it over and over, louder each time, just because it was so cute to hear her say it. So this card included all the 'apple' cliches I could think of....the most important being "you are the apple of my eye!", and my other favorite, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!" I made this card during my 'stamping therapy' time last week at a friend's house, since she has the stamp and the wonderful prisma pencils to colour it with. Thanks for stopping by.
